The Romans began to build it in 72 AD. They finished it in 80 Ad. The Roman Colosseum gave it's last show, some sort of animal show, in 523 AD, the same year that it was partially destroyed by an Earthquake, and never used for entertainment again (while it was used for many other activites, manly religious ones).
