The rise probably started in the 1930's when the Party of Hitler "The NSDAP" became more popular among people.

It WA ongoing from the early 20's Hitler joined the dap- a group formed from ww1 veterans who felt let down by the government. Hitler was sent by the army intelligence core to check it out. At the time Germany was in a critical state. economically and socially. Because of the versaille treaty the un-employment rate was huge, there were a string of para-military groups at this time- D.A.P, steelhelmets to name a couple. Rise of Hitler is long and fairly complicated. 1933 von hindenberg appointed Hitler as chancellor.Tension between the 2 left wing parties, from years of sharp political competition, made it difficult to bridge those differences sufficiently to obstruct the new Hitler government. Many leaders on the left thought there would be a short period of crisis and repression before the Hitler government fell from power- by the time they realised their mistake many found themselves in prison or concentartion camps. A new decree of law was passed' protection of the Reich' which put serious limits on communist press and the right to assembly. Hitler had the reichstag burnt- German Parliament building. On the 31st of Jan Hitler was able to ask hindenberg to dissolve Parliament to gain the majority. Hindenberg complied and on the 1st of feb new elections were set for 5th march, giving time to gain a tighter grip on German society and terrify its prinipal opponents. Gorring issued a decree in prussia permitting the security forces to shoot enemies of the Reich without fear of punishment. on 11 feb SA were sworn in as the police of the ruhr rheineland area to carry on their campaign against marxist industrial districts. on 22 feb 50 000 more SA and steel helmet members were drafted as auxilliary police throughout prussia to comlete the work of intimidation and repression with the backing of the state. The SA seized the opportunity to storm working-class districts to hunt for opponents who were gunned down or beaten and tortured- the first weeks of hitlers government were to send a message that this was not a normal transfer of power but a revolution in the name of the new Germany.
