That's not exactly how Christianity works. The reason why Jesus' death was necessary is because God is perfect and all people are not. Imperfection (sinners) cannot stand in the presence of God. The only atonement for sin is death, specifically the death of something perfect, which is why in the Old Testament a lamb was slaughtered to atone for sins. Therefore, because Jesus came down from heaven and lived a perfect life, his death was able to atone for the sins of the world--the ultimate sacrifice.

It is a key part of Christianity to understand that you have nothing to do with paying for your own sins, and there is no way for you to atone for your own sins--all of that is the work of God (Ephesians 2:8-9). It doesn't matter how much you have suffered; only believing Jesus' sacrifice and accepting him into your heart can cover your sins (Romans 10:9). Also, your acceptance of Jesus does not cover the sins of your friends and family. Each person must accept Jesus individually in order to receive his grace.

Even though he died in one night, there is no way to suffer more than Jesus--he carried the weight of every sin that had ever been committed and ever will be committed, and for a brief time, God himself turned away from him. Plus, crucifixion is an extremely terrible way to die, and is where the origin of the word excruciating.
