WOW. Someone who actually knows what the Dr. Demento show is! I thought I was alone! Its difficult if not impossible to find downloads of Demento music since he was not the author or artist of those songs. Songs are licensed to places like Walmart.com and sony.com depending on the artist, original record company, etc. So it would be up to individual artists and their companies (Julie Brown, Bobby Jimmy, Ray Stevens, Weird Al, etc.) to allow their songs to be downloaded. Dr. Demento also will NOT sell tapes or copies of old shows, due to copyright laws. Thank goodness I have one old tape of a radio show.
The Demento website is offering online streams of old shows:

You could always buy a streaming media recorder (like Total Recorder) but I'm not sure what the copyright laws are on that. Probably just for your own use.
The Demento site also offers a list of playlists, categorized by year, month and day so you can at least get the title and/or artist name of a song that you heard. http://mypage.iu.edu/~jbmorris/playlists.HTML

the real slim shady and crack a bottle are good songs to sing when you are auditioning for a talent show... :)
The piece of music played before the show is called the prelude. There isn't a technical term that I know of for the time when the audience is being seated in the theater, but when the doors to the auditorium open and allow people to begin coming in, they say "the house is open". Yes, the music that is playing in the house while people are being seated is sometimes called a 'prelude' or 'house music'. However, I believe you are asking about the overture. The overture is the orchestral music that begins as the house lights go down and the show begins. The overture generally contains small parts of many of the songs that will be featured in the show. It serves as an introduction to the show that may give the audience an idea about the general mood of the show and the kind of music that will be featured.
