∙ 12y agoThe alligator is split into two separate species - the American Alligator (Alligator mississippiensis) and the Chinese Alligator (Alligator sinensis).
The American Alligator is distributed throughout the southern United States, whereas the Chinese Alligator can be found in parts of China (though these days, they are very rare).
