Rachel Donelson Robards Jackson, born Rachel Donelson (June 15, 1767 - December 22, 1828) was wife of the 7th President of the United States, Andrew Jackson. They met in 1790 at her mother's house near Nashville, where Jackson was a boarder. Andrew Jackson married Rachel Donelson-Robards in August 1791, at Natchez, Mississippi. They were both aged 24. This marriage was later deemed invalid because Rachel's divorce from her first husband, Colonel Lewis Robards, whom she had married at the age of 18, had not yet become final. They remarried, this time legally, on January 17, 1794.
When Jackson first came to the Nashville area he found room and at his wifes's mother's blockhouse, She was a recent widow and she needed men around to protect her from Indian raids. He met Rachel, who already married at her mother's house.
They met at her mother's farm near Nashville, TN where he rented a cabin and took his meals.
The met in 1790 when she came back to her mother's farm where Jackson was renting a cabin and taking his meals.
Andrew Jackson never met his father because he had died before Jackson was born.
