∙ 12y agoAndrew Jackson married Rachel Donelson. They had met when Jackson moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1788. At the time, Rachel was still married to another man, Lewis Robards, but Rachel believed that they were divorced and left with Jackson to the city of Natchez and were "married" in 1791. However, Rachel was still legally married to Lewis until their divorce was finalized in 1793. Jackson and Donelson were legally married in 1794.
