How many miles down is the Arctic Circle and is there sand where animals could have once roamed the earth?

1) The Arctic circle is an IMAGINARY line of latitude at 66° 33′ North. - so thinking of it as 'miles down' is wrong. 2) There are plenty of examples in the Earth's fossil record of ancient animals walking across sand - ( this is of cause nothing to do with the Arctic Circle).

How long does the midnight sun last in the Arctic Circle?

Exactly on the Arctic Circle, the sun stays up for 24 hours on June 21, and down for 24 hours on December 21.As you go further north from the Arctic Circle, the 'up' time in Summer increases, and the 'down' time in Winter increases. The farthest north you can go is the north pole. As seen from the pole, the sun is up for 6 months solid, from March 21 to September 21, and down for the other 6 months.

On about June 22 everyone living above the Arctic Circle has 24 hours of what?

If you're on the north pole, then beginning on March 21, the sun never sets again until September 21. As you go farther and farther south from the pole, the date when the sun stops setting gets later, and the date when it resumes setting becomes earlier. When you get down to the Arctic circle, that's as far as you can go and still have a full 24 hours without a sunset. It happens on June 21 or 22.

At the summer solstice it is light 24 hours a day?

Yes, but only if you are north of the arctic circle in the northern hemisphere, or south of the antarctic circle in the southern hemisphere. In the more temperate latitudes, the summer solstice is the day with the longest period of sunlight. In far northern areas like Moscow, Russia, which is still south of the arctic circle, they do have a phenomenon around the time of the solstice that the call the "white nights"; The Sun goes down, but remains close to the horizon. So the effect is that the Sun sets, then they have a couple of hours of twilight, and then the Sun rises again.

Is it colder at the Arctic Circle than the Antarctic Circle?

Both are theoretically the same. It depends on the accuracy of your measurements and the method of measurement. Are you measuring at exactly theoretical sea level or up and down mountains and valleys (along the sea floor?) etc. I do believer that the Earth is slightly larger south of the equator and so the Antarctic circle could be larger.
