In far northern areas like Moscow, Russia, which is still south of the arctic circle, they do have a phenomenon around the time of the solstice that the call the "white nights"; The Sun goes down, but remains close to the horizon. So the effect is that the Sun sets, then they have a couple of hours of twilight, and then the Sun rises again.
