You can contact the RCMP (they have a domestic violence department .. interesting work, but hard at first) or you can apply to Abused Women's Centers or even Mental Health in the Province you want to stay in. I live in British Columbia, Canada, so if I can help please just answer my post.
AnswerMy dream has been to work with battered women as a counsellor in a transition house. My second choice is a Parole Officer. I have applied to Corrrectional Services of Canada. Do you know anything about that type of work? I think it would be challenging but I like the idea of having a variety of duties. As for a Domestic Violence Counselor, not alot of places seem to be hiring out here in Alberta. I use to live in BC but I dont think I want to move. Thanks. AnswerI volunteered at the Abused Women's Center and still do. I am aware of the Transition Houses. Since you don't want to move to British Columbia (don't blame you .. high taxes here. LOL) then your best bet is to go to main police departments and try to sign up for active duty in this area. They put you through a tough course (you'll pass easily) and be called on 24/7 to assist them in domestic violence right where it occurs. Tough, but great experience. I think you'd be great at it, but Parole Officer also is interesting. Please let me know what you think is best for you. If you need more info or help just post and I'll answer.

Triple shift theory in sociology refers to the idea that women often juggle three main spheres of responsibility: paid work, domestic responsibilities, and emotional labor. This theory highlights the unequal burden placed on women compared to men in balancing these three areas of their lives.
The same way as anywhere else, I would hope. Domestic violence is a crime no matter who does it, gay or straight. The sexuality of the person doesn't matter here (unless that was a reason for the violence, in which case it might become a hate crime as well).
