King David was a shepherd before he went to war. If you are talking about the shepherds that visited baby Jesus, I don't know what their names were.

There are lots of shepherds in The Bible, you just need to know where to look.

Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.(Matthew 7:17) Perhaps you are referring to the Biblical creation story. The book of Genesis refers to each "kind" of animal which reproduces after its own kind. There are land animals, birds and sea creatures in the creation story. There are also seed bearing plants in the plant kingdom. The plant kingdom will produce plants of one kind or another after their own kind. The animal kingdom will produce animals according to their own kind. The sheep, therefore, will beget sheep or at least some type of a sheep. The Bible does not dismiss the possibility of change. It simply says that from God's perspective creation produces after its own kind. The Bible does not speak of modern day classifications or of certain species within the plant or animal kingdom. It simply says that God has created certain kinds of plants and animals and that they will reproduce within their own kind. Fish may change or evolve but they are going to be fish and subject to the limitations which God has placed upon them. The Bible contains scientific and historical information but it is primarily a spiritual book in nature. It requires us to think from a spiritual perspective. Our human knowledge is often limited and subject to change. God's own perspective never changes but human history shows that our thoughts are seldom set in stone and will change over time as we learn from our experience and the study of science and history. You will find some references to your question primarily in Genesis chapters 1-2.

The sheep and the goats (Mt 25:31-46). As stated in verses 31, 32, 41, 46, what is here illustrated is the separating and judging of the people of the nations when the Son of man arrives in his glory. This illustration is part of Jesus' reply to his disciples' question concerning 'the sign of his presence and the conclusion of the system of things.'-Mt 24:3.

Sheep and goats commonly graze together in the Middle East, and the shepherd easily identifies the two kinds of animals when he wants to separate them. Jesus' reference to goats in this illustration is with no discredit to animals of that kind. (On the annual Day of Atonement the blood of a goat was used to make atonement for sin in behalf of Israel.)

So the goats merely represent one class of people, and the sheep represent another class.

The "right hand," where the "sheep" are put, is a place of honor. (Ac 2:33; Eph 1:19, 20). These are the ones trying to apply Christian principles in the Bible.

The "left," where the "goats" are put, represents a place of dishonor. (Compare Ec 10:2.) The goats represent those persons who refuse to do good to the least of his brothers.
