Armed forces around the world are bravely fighting in Afghanistan due a constant terror threat. A Taliban fighter said on camera: "Once we have taken Afghanistan, we will take… move west. Invading England and America." Also, next to Afghanistan is Iran. Iran have nuclear power, which, if the Taliban and al'Qaeda got a hold of, could be awful. US army is cultivating opium and selling billions and billions of dollars worth of heroin to the whole world, just like they do in South America with cocaine.

A country is a nation, and Afghanistan predates nations as a placeof settlement by about 50,000 years. At least people have beenknown to live there for about that long. In fac…t, Afghanistan isthought to be one of the oldest permanent settlement sights known, possibly predating Egypt and Mesopotamia. The political history of Afganistan is varied, beginning around 550BCE with the First Persian Empire under which the disparate tribesfrom India to modern Greece, and as far south as Egypt wereunified. This continued in 336 BCE under the Macedonian Empire, ruled by Alexander. In 322 BCE, with the death of Alexander, theterritory passed to the Maurya Empire of India and this lasteduntil around 185 BCE. The Mauryan's bumped up against the risingGreco-Bactrian Kingdom, who took over a large part of the Afghanterritory after 180 BCE. For the next 1800 years, Afghanistan andportions of it were passed among many different kingdoms andempires. Among these were the Kushans, Sasanians, Hephthalites,Kabul Shahi, Islamic Empires, Saffarid Dynasty, Samanid Empire,Gaznavids, Ghurids, Kartids, Timurids, Mughals, Hotaki Dynasty, andthe Durrani Dynasty. The Hotaki and Durrani Dynasties mark the beginning of the modernAfghan state with the rise of the Pashtun in 1709. After theAnglo-Afghan War in 1919, King Amanullah began to westernize thegovernment, but his efforts failed because of pressure from Islamicconservatives. During the Cold War, Afghanistan was a bufferbetween much of the confflict between NATO and the Warsaw Pact. The1979 Soviet invasion and war with the (partially) US backedMujahideen (direct lineage of the Taliban), the current war inAfghanistan, and the shaky nature of their government is a directresult of the "political" involvement of the US and Soviet Union inthe area post WW2.
