on the gear box down the drivers side below the bulkhead
The speed sensor on a 98 Impreza is on the gear box. it is on the driver's side under the bulkhead.
You may need to replace the radiator thermostat and gasket.
Siphon it out through the access hole in the trunk...
My 98 impreza just pumps from the front washer tank to the back
The spark plug gap for a 1998 Subaru Impreza/Legacy with the 2.5L DOHC engine is .044".
I have a 2002 Subaru Impreza Outback and it have the thermostat on the right bellow the engine. You can fallow the hose from the radiator that goes to the bottom of the engine.

its under the air intake. its hard to miss. you dont have to take the intake off to see it either. And i believe its a 10mm bolt, simple. Go to http://www.lovehorsepower.com/SubaruDocs/subaru_legacy_knock_sensor.htm there you will find photos on how to remove and reinstall the knock sensor
The Speed Sensor Is Located on the transmission. On The Top Towards the Back
Remove the wiring harness from your speed sensor. Remove the speed sensor retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new speed sensor.
The speed sensor on a 98 Jetta is located near the brake setup. It is on the passenger wheel area mounted to a bracket.
in the axle
