Depending on what year... and body style
on a 1997 Coupe (LXi in particular) it's next to the brake fluid reservoir. There are 3 relays on the firewall in that location. The center (on mine) is the ASD relay. Sometimes just cleaning the contacts properly and applying some dielectric grease will bring them back from the corrosive/moisture laden dead.
Auto shut down
Left side under hood. Under windshield. Three relays attached to fire wall. ASD is the middle one.
Auto shut down. It powers the fuel system.
You do not have to reset the asd relay. It is controlled by the engine computer automatically.
Chrysler, with its infinite wisdom, has decided to make an ASD relay circuit that will disable engine in the event there is a crash... or bad sensor... or shorted wire... or the wind blows... etc.
Yes, that is on of many possible causes.
The ASD is a relay controlled by the PCM and does not have a reset. The ASD is a relay controlled by the PCM and does not have a reset.
Where is the ASD relay located on a 2000 Jeep Cherokee 2WD ?
When a crash is reported by the airbag computer the engine computer shuts off the ASD relay (auto shut down). The ASD relay powers the fuel pump and coil(s).
Chrysler does not have reset or shut off switches. The fuel system is controlled by the computer with an asd (auto shutdown) relay.
Could be the ASD Relay (Auto ShutDown). If that's not working it can cut power to the coil, just switch the ASD Relay and replace it with the Horn Relay and see if that restores power, if so just go and get a new ASD Relay.
12 volts whenever the computer has actuated the asd relay.12 volts whenever the computer has actuated the asd relay.
