On the front of the engine under the two ignition coils, follow the plug wires and under the coils is the ignition module. Changed mine twice . Works better now.

The 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 3.1 liter engine starter is located on the bottom of the engine near the back. You can follow the positive battery cable directly to the starter.

Regarding a model 1997,2 liter sonata, there is not an ignition control module as such. Ignition control comes from the ECM (ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT) through the Ignition Power Transistor (often called Igniter) and then to the Ignition coil.I do not have any information on the 1.8 or the 3.0 liter models.

The ignition module on a 1989 5.7 liter is located in the distributor. Remove the cap, then the rotor, and you will be looking at the module. The module is held in place with two screws. Real simple. Good luck, David
