Answer . \nThe TCC Solenoid is located on the valve body. In order to reach the unit you have to remove the Battery and Battery housing, Air Filter housing & Assembly, And the wiring harness brackets. You then have to support the rear of the engine and remove the Crossmember located behind the dr…ivers side front wheel. There are 5 bolts and 1 mounting bolt. The TCC is secured by 2 bolts directly to the valve body. It is hard but this can be changed with the transaxle still in the vehicle. (MORE)

After I replaced… mine, I can now start the engine but not cut it off and the radio and accessories stay on draining the battery. Any other suggestions. What is worng when you have replaced the stared the flywheel and the solenoid and it still just spin over 1986 Ford ranger XL?
Answer . Check to make certain that it's wired correctly. Some starters can be wired wrong and cause that problem, probably not a ford though. If that's not it, check the alignment between the starter and flywheel and make certain that it's the right flywheel and starter and that the new bendix w…orks right. Otherwise, you're on your own on that one. It's a mystery if none of the above fixes it.. If it is just spinning and not turning the engine, not even once, then the problem is either a bad started, the flywheel was used and the teeth are chewed too far down. the way it works is you hit the key, the started drive kicks inside the bellhousing a little bit so the drive head on the starter connects with the teeth on the flywheel and spins the flywheel which in turn rotates the engine. If it is not touching the engine at all, then I would make sure you got the right parts and that they were good parts, specially if you got a starter from a junkyard, or one from a parts store that said it was rebuilt as they have a bad record with rebuilding those and alternators. The solenoid is located on the driver's side of the truck just behind the EGR valve. It is held in place by two 8MM screws. There are two small rubber hoses on the bottom that must be removed and there is an electrical connection that must be unplugged.. Screw in the two screws to mount the new one…, replug in the electrical connection and reinstall the two rubber hoses near the bottom.. I replaced mine this morning in about 10 minutes. You can purchase a new solenoid at NAPA for about $31.. Good luck. (MORE)

It should be in the engine compartment somewhere close to the battery. The easiest way to find it is to follow the positive (red) cable from the battery until it connects to the solenoid. The solenoid is not very big and also has one or two small wires connected to it besides the battery cable.
i KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL FOR FORD 1998 IT HAD SOME THING TO DO WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL
Most likely it is located within the transmission pan. It will have a couple wires running to a cylinder it is the one without the plastic cover at the top where the wires connect.
First take off the oil cap under the hood. Under the truck, about center between the seats, you'll find the oil pan and the drain plug. with you oil catch pan right under the plug, unscrew the plug. An adjustable wrench should do the job. When the oil is down to about a drop a second, close it back …up. move your catch pan towards the driver side under the oil filter. The filter can be taken off from under the hood either by hand or with a strap wrench. Leave the old filter on the catch pan upside down so it can drain. Put in your new filter in, just past hand tight and refill the oil (about 4 quarts). idle the engine for a minute or two, turn it off and check the oil level again. Don't forget to put the oil cap back on! (MORE)

All of the late-model Ford Rangers have a starter with a solenoid, and the older models have a remote starter solenoid. Both are covered. The remote starter solenoid is located on the passenger-side fenderwell. This means that a small-sized starter can fit in tighter locations. It also allows for …a cheaper repair if just the solenoid goes bad. (MORE)
