I assume that you have an Automatic., 2.3L. As you open the hood, on your right side, look down between the rad and rad hose, its down about 12 inches. Close to the rad. Should be there. If you have a standard, then you do not have one. When the car is up on jacks, there is a check the oil level plug, once the plug is out, the fluid should just drip out very slightly. Check you manual for correct fluid type and levels. Dexron III or better is good.
On my 1993 Topaz, the transmission fluid dipstick is on the right side of the engine, near the front, just to the left of the battery. It looks a lot like the oil dipstick, but, when you pull it out, the writing on the dipstick clearly mentions that the fluid level should be checked when the engine is hot and idling, and that a certain type of Mercury automatic transmission fluid should be used to refill.
I guess you are looking for automatic transmission. Standing in front of the car, hood open, your right side, look between the rad. and the engine. Its a little lower than the top of the rad.
On your 1989 MERCURY TOPAZ, the BACK-UP LIGHT SWITCH is: UNDER HOOD, DRIVER SIDE, LOWER ENGINE AREA, MOUNTED ON TOP OF TRANSMISSION
There isn't a transmission capacity the only thing you go by is the amount of gears it has.
Dexron 3 will do just fine.
Sorry , no ansewer because no Topaz 1995 ; last production was 1994.
Possibly. Look at the model # on each transmission. If they are the same, then they are interchangeable.
Mercury Topaz was created in 1983.
Not quite sure what you are looking for?
Inside the fuel tank.
The 1993 Mercury manual transmission linkage will have adjustment nuts on each end of the linkage. Turning the adjustment nuts will move the linkage back in forth.
Have to take off the head, it's there.
