Which degree comes first master's or doctoral?
If you get a bachelor's and master's and doctorate degree does it matter whether or not you got an associate's degree first?
Answer There is no need to get an AA and a BA. The BA supercedes the AA. If you're going after the PHD, just get the BA (Or Bachelors of Science), MA then PHD. The… Associates degree means nothing if you already have the Bachelors degree. Sidenote: An associates degree does not necessarily mean nothing if you already have a Bachelors, sometimes students with BA's decide to make a career change and enroll in a two year associates program to get additional training.
In most cases, yes. Typically the masters degree comes first. However, it sometimes depends on the program of study. For example, medical school for most individuals follows c…ompletion of undergraduate work. In addition, there are some graduate programs where a college or university will combine the two degrees, allowing you to complete them without having to separately apply for each one.
It could be an EdD, or PhD.
Doctors go to medical school and have MD degrees.
That depends on your overall career goals and objectives. You should acquire a vision; a clearly articulated picture of the future you intend to create for yourself. Once you …acquire that vision, your path will become clear. With a master's you have many opportunities availbe to you. You just have to find one you have a passion for.
Huge difference! There are many different types of masters degrees and also Doctorates degree. Take engineering for example. There is a master's of engineering(ME) and mas…ters of science(MS). For doctorates there is a Doctorates of Philosophy(PhD) and Doctorates of Engineering(ED). MS degrees are more respected in the field and the same for PhD. For MS you need to take ussually 40-60 more credits of courses and write a masters thesis. All masters programs are different. A masters thesis is not so profound and does not go in depth in realm of research. It more like an indepth research paper you did in high school. It researchs on what has already but done and investigates it... understands it. That's about it. For PhD you do the same course work but you also have to propose an original thought to the area. First you have to take the Doctoral Qualifying exams. Depending on the school it can be all oral or all written or both. They test you the information you learned as an undergrad. Ussually its 3 exams in your major and one outside... depends on program. You ussually have just 2 trys at this otherwise your kicked out. Next you have the candicany exam which you will pick a board of professors and you will present to them what you propose to make your thesis topic. You should already have done research in this area before you go up! I mean extensive research with results too which will help convince them there is hope in your ideas instead of wasteing their time and money. The next thing is to complete your requirement which your research advisor requires of you. It could be publishing a paper in a major publication. He is the only person who can sign your PhD degree to you. Write your doctoral thesis which incorporates your original thought, discover, results, and so on. Then its time for your Doctoral Defense. you will have to present your research in front of professors of the department and anyone from the public that wishs to go. They will asks questions, maybe refute your ideas and so on. You need to defend and support your work and ideas. Survive is key. Once that is done your professor should sign you off and ur set. You should have a paper published somewhere by the time you leave. Published paper make you a prime subject to the industry. More you have the better, the more you get paid.
If you start a doctoral program without a MA/MS you will have to complete the MA program before you start the PhD program. The college will grant you the MA in the middle of y…our PhD program and then you go on to finish the PhD . If I can offer a suggestion, do the MA/MS and wait a year or two for the PhD because a PhD program is very stressful and requires all of your attention. Having done both I found the MA easy compared to the PhD
The doctorate is higher.
Short answer, no. You can go towards earing your doctoral degree after receiving your bachelors however, be prepared. You will need to take loads more credit hours than someon…e who has their masters. Do some research about the programs at the university you intend on attending. Additional info on this In the middle of your PhD they will grant you a MA, so essentially you are working towards a MA. May I suggest you do one and then do the other. Having done both degrees I found the PhD stressful and it takes concentration/dedication to finish. I did the MA in less than 2 years and the PhD in 3.5 years. If you are working and have a family be aware that doing grad work also takes a toll on the family as well. Just know this going in because many people do not take these factors into consideration before they start grad work and either never finish or have family problems. I guess that is why only 1% of the United States have PhD's.
