They both can make insane amounts of power, but I would say turbo because...
1. The boost on turbo systems can easily be adjusted
2. There are way more sizes avail. to best match the motor
3. Are more economical MPG due to the fact they are load based and don't cause a parasitic load on the motor when not in use/needed.
4. Can be easier to fit in the engine bay vs. screw/roots superchargers.
5. more durable, belt need replacing/break (more of with higher boost), while a turbo will last 100k+ if not abused( made to surge/overspeed/poor oiling).
6. more low end boost than a centrifugal SC.
7. can even get electronics to limit boost per gear to maximize, performance/traction.
TSi = turbo supercharge and TFS1= turbo fuel stratefied injection
supercharged
There is no turbo kit made for the stratus coupe. But there is a supercharger kit made by ripp mods. The difference is a turbo runs off exhaust gas and a supercharger is beltdriven. The engine in the coupe is a 6g72. The same engine comes in a twin turbo charged Mitsubishi 3000gt.
can you put a turbo on a grandam gt
by putting a turbo engine into it.....non turbo engines were not meant to handle boost especially sohc engines...you can try to supercharge it though...there are many kits out there just for sohc stealth and 3000 gts
Better or worse is based on the needed application. However there is very few advantages of a turbo over a supercharger. The only advantage of a turbo is if you are racing the engine over distance in which max boost and max power is required for a sustained amount of time. The heat a turbo creates causes problems to everything under the hood such as wiring, hoses ect... a turbo and a supercharger are totally different applications. a supercharger forces air into the intake with the fuel to make it burn better. a turbocharger works on the exhaust side. a supercharger will make an engine reach higher rpms faster. a turbo will make it pull better
yes. its a good swap but expensive. you will need a transmission ecu and alot of other things. it would be cheaper and i think better just to rebuild and turbo or supercharge your d16y8 engine that comes stock
you mount the turbo next to the engine
No you cant , because if you did you would be gay!
