according to all uses here are some ratings

1.Quik heal :provides all the protection against virus as well as spyware and malware

and also bcause it is made in India.

2.Avg:bcause it is freely available and a good one.and provides protection against spyware too.

3.kasper sky : very good one for resident protection u are protected by kasper sky lab

4.norton antivirus 2009:it is a good one by symantec company however symantec is not good one as far as i suggest.

5.avast home and pro :it is only bcause after norton bcause it slows down the PC bacause it scans throgh out the time your computer is on .

6.mc kafee : good one but i am not using it right now may be in future

I personally despise despise McAfee. Microsoft Security Essentials is free and does a more than adequate job.
There is no such thing; all claims for the Best are not really true.

The best is the one for your needs.

Can be a Free one: AVG, Avast, Antivir ...etc. or a paid one: Kaspersky, Symantec, Nod32...etc.

You need more than an AV to protect your PC; keep in mind that No Software or Hardware protection is better than common sense when using your computer.

There are a lot of competitors and there isn't one that's simply regarded as the best. Norton is well known but is complicated, expensive and bulky. McAfee is generally regarded as being not as effective as other softwares. Kaspersky is made in Russia, which makes you question the security of your data.

I personally use STOPzilla. It's US made and supported, lightweight, easy to use, and cheaper than the others.
There is no ''best'' Anti-Virus, the best one is the one that works best for you. My best Anti-Virus is Microsoft Security Essentials.
This is a subjective question. The best anti virus is an educated user and an up to date system. The second best is HIPS (host intrusion protection system) products offer better protection than an anti virus because they prevent the infection in the first place. AVG and Avira offer free antiviruses, and Microsoft is offering one to windows owners for free (not sure what versions).
