From what I know there are usually two ways to treat schizophrenia. If you go to a Doctor or pychologist they will usually prescribe medication for you. These drugs have side affects which can be bad. From my experience, the medications take a while to work and help you to cope with the distress you may be experiencing. However you will never be cured and will have to take the medication for the rest of your life and quite possibly for a lot of people they don't work. The alternative which in my opinion should be explored before trying medication is Orthomolecular medicine, which is treatment for mental illness via nutritional supplementation.
