Yes they can - as can all snakes. A snakes jaws are composed of sections (two in the lower jaw, and six in the upper jaw) connected by ligaments. This enables them to 'dislocate' their jaws to allow them to swallow large prey animals.

There were a LOT of technical problems in the making of Jaws (1975). So many that the crew nicknamed the movie Flaws. The biggest problem was that the mechanical sharks kept breaking. Saltwater kept getting into the mechanisms.Filming a movie at sea also posed many problems. That was the great John Williams, who composed a lot of innovative film scores even before Star Wars and Indiana Jones made him a superstar. It's quite an accomplishment in a way, if you can create a musical cliche that becomes such a part of pop culture.
