The United States.

The US Army-Air Force dropped atomic weapons on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The Hiroshima bomb was dropped by a plane called the Enola Gay, piloted by Col. Paul Tibbets, on 6 August 1945.

The Nagasaki bombing occurred on 9 August 1945. Again, the bomb was delivered by the Enola Gay, this time piloted by Maj. Charles Sweeney.

These two bombings represent the only use of nuclear weapons during war, and brought about the surrender of the Japanese Empire, thereby ending World War II.
