Your gun was designed and patented by John Browning in 1903. The rights were sold to the Stevens Arms Company and it was produced as the Model 520. A later version, the Model 620 began production in 1927. Stevens manufactured this gun for Wards as part of their "Westernfield" line. Production ended in 1955.
