Depends on the person, their skills and their beliefs about money. Massage therapists who work in jobs don't usually make much. It is possible but rare to make $45 an hour as a massage therapist.

It is my personal observance when i had my vacation in London last 2007,I am a Filipino and stayed in a rented house sharing with different people who is always busy of working in a different field.

As I am a tourist, I also had the chance to see the possibility of how to live and stay in London and how to handle a living in one of the most expensive city in the world.

As I have ask them one by one if what is the best income or work to have ,most of the people in the house pointed to only one person who work as a massage therapist.

I ask why and she answered "the secret is in my touch",because every patient or client who called for her therapeutic touch is always asking for more time or extended the hours for her service,as I continue asking,Because touch promotes healing and warm than machine or the mechanical instrument.

And wow,she has the income of more or less P50,000 a day if she can handle 10 patient a day. With the proper body mechanics it is not possible to do that. She told me if she needs quick money like 1 million or more in a month, she must have a regular visits of 10 person a day.......can yo calculate it?

That is why when I arrived home I immediately started to learn to become a massage therapist ,and now im just waiting my visa to arrive going back to london.

I hope I contributed enough information for your question....

Explore Massage Therapy Training?

With all of the stress in the world, massage therapy training would be a good choice for a career. There is nothing quite like the proper massage that can relieve the stress of the most anxiety-filled person. Massage therapy training is available and there is more to it than most people may think. To be trained in massage therapy is to be trained in how to touch. By manipulating the soft-tissue muscles of the body the right way, pain can be alleviated, tired and tight muscles can become relaxed, stress is reduced, injuries can be rehabilitated and someone's overall health can improve. To decide to enroll in massage therapy training, it is necessary to know what type of massage can be learned. There are over 80 different kinds of massage and these are called modalities. Deep-tissue massage, reflexology, sports massage, Swedish massage and acupressure are just a few of the modalities that are in existence. Massage therapy training requirements and standards can change from state to state, and even by city to city. It is common to need to have at least 500 hours or more of training and study to receive a license to practice massage therapy. To enroll in an accredited program for massage therapy, only a high school diploma is required. There are schools that are strictly dedicated to learning massage therapy and techniques. There are also programs that can be found in either public or private institutes. Some of the courses that are needed in a program will include anatomy, kinesiology, ethics, physiology and business management. A good program to find would be one that can help find employment when the program has been successfully completed. It is possible to learn massage therapy either part-time or full-time which makes it convenient if the student is already employed elsewhere. State regulations vary in the way that they require massage therapists to keep up their education. There is always a need for more education on massage therapy since techniques could be improved and changed over the years.

How does massage promote pain relief?

Massage is a hands on therapy that makes our muscles and other body tissues improve in health and well-being. What is deep tissue massage vs neuromuscular massage?

What is deep tissue massage?Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders. The movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain. How does deep tissue massage work? When there is chronic muscle tension or injury, there are usually adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) in muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Adhesions can block circulation and cause pain, limited movement, and inflammation.Deep tissue massage works by physically breaking down these adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement. To do this, the massage therapist often uses direct deep pressure.Neuromuscular Massage TherapyThe most effective type of massage therapy for lower back pain is neuromuscular therapy. Neuromuscular therapy is also called trigger point myotherapy. The American Academy of Pain Management recognizes this form of massage therapy as an effective treatment for back pain caused by soft tissue injury (such as a muscle strain). Neuromuscular therapy consists of alternating levels of concentrated pressure on the areas of muscle spasm. The massage therapy pressure is usually applied with the fingers, knuckles, or elbow. Once applied to a muscle spasm, the pressure should not vary for ten to thirty seconds.Muscles that are in spasm will be painful to the touch. The pain is caused by ischemic muscle tissue. Ischemia means the muscle is lacking proper blood flow, usually due to the muscle spasm. This in turn creates the following undesirable process:Because the muscle is not receiving enough blood, the muscle is also not receiving enough oxygenThe lack of oxygen causes the muscle to produce lactic acidThe lactic acid makes the muscle feel sore following physical activity. After the muscle is relaxed through massage therapy, the lactic acid will be released from the muscle, and the muscle should start receiving enough blood and oxygen.Neuromuscular therapy will feel painful at first, but the pressure of the massage should alleviate the muscle spasm. At this point, it is extremely important to communicate with the massage therapist regarding the pressure - whether the pressure is too much, too little, getting better, getting worse. The therapist should listen and respond accordingly. The massage therapy pressure should never be overly painful. In fact, most people describe the pressure as "good pain".What to expect after massage therapyFollowing a neuromuscular therapy massage, any soreness that presents itself should fade after twenty-four to thirty-six hours. The muscles that were tight should remain noticeably more relaxed for four to fourteen days, depending on stress, activity level, and severity of back pain prior to beginning massage therapy.

Can a Physical Therapy Assistant deviate from the plan of care?

Physical Therapy Assistant can not deviate from the plan of care. As a part of their job duty their role is to follow the treatment plan created by Physical therapist. I think in Texas and California( I am sure in USA as whole) PT is the one who makes the treatment plan and not PTA. In Texas or California this is the law for PTA. Hope it helps.

Does a nursing degree help in massage therapy?

Yes, it can help. Choosing the right school is also very important. Check out www.amtamassage.org and www.comta.org for qualified programs in your area. As for the nursing degree, if you already have it, that is good but it is definitely not necessary. Massage anatomy and physiology is a lot more focused on skeletal muscles and musculoskeletal pathology than nursing, per se. Most of the time nurses can use their massage education for CEU's. Massage definitely helps in nursing. Having the massage certification as a nurse makes you very valuable to the patients, the hospital, and the doctors.
