This entirely depends on how you define "respecting Islam". There are a variety of different levels of acceptance of Islam that different individuals engage in. At the very basic level, it is treating people equally regardless of whether they believe in Islam or not. At another level, it is accepting the validity of Islam within the community of religions. At still another level, it is accepting as true or accurate its theological claims. At the highest level, it is those who believe in the theological claims proffered and act in such a way to realize them.
Most people on Earth perform the very basic level, but the circles narrow considerably as you jump higher on the ladder.
I also wanted to note that I disagree with the community answer below. Respect of Religions is not a Human Rights issue. Human Rights protects the right of a person to practice whatever faith he sees fit and not be adversely treated for practicing one faith over another or not practicing a faith at all. It does not protect the religions themselves, i.e. the ideas, concepts, dogmas, and behaviors, from criticism, however brash those criticisms may be.
One of the most important aspects of the Human Rights issue is the respect and tolerance which society must show towards the religions of other people.
Islam is the religion and Muslims are the followers of the Islam religion.

Muhammad was the prophet of Islam. He is considered the final prophet in Islam, delivering the message of the Quran, which Muslims believe to be the word of God (Allah). He was born in Mecca, in modern-day Saudi Arabia, in the 6th century CE, and his teachings laid the foundation for the religion of Islam.
