Good luck. Complete engines are pretty rare. New ones are cost prohibitive compared to what your Mule is worth for parts and what it will be worth with a new engine. The weak point in the early diesel Mules is the crankshaft. If that has broken in yours, only replace it with a crank from a turboed motor. The motor is a Daihatsu 950D. Use a crank out of a 950DT (turboed). Other parts are more readily available in the used market but still not easy to find. Check ebay and Craigslist. These engines are used on certain zero turn mowers which seem to be used more in the eastern US. Check in that area on Craigslist. The other weakness are the connecting rods. This is what usually fails to make a used crank become available.
Happy hunting.
