Got ya! You need to update your records...Denise Mueller, Team Project Speed, of Carlsbad, CA set the record in 2016 at Bonneville Raceway in Utah for the fastest paced speed on a bicycle for a woman. It was a 147.7 mph. The current world record for any human on a bicycle is close to 170mph. The bicycle is towed up to 100 mph by a vehicle and then riding behind the tow vehicle, it is released and the bicycle is pedaled up to the record. Ms. Mueller is a 15 time USA National Bicycle Racing Champion, had podiums at the World Championships and is an Ironman Finisher, along with being a mother of three grown sons and the CEO of her business.
Currently Carmelita Jeter is the fastest women in the world. Flornece Griffith Joyner died in 1998.
thomas armandoThat's really a pointless question unless you specify what type of riding you're asking about - track, road, DH, Time Trial etc.Even then it's still quite uninteresting, as cyclists mainly race other cyclist. As long as you're the fastest of the pack, the speed as such doesn't really matter.
Usain Bolt.
There's no set answer to that, it really depends on what you allow the bike to look like, and how the record was set. Sam Whittingham holds the record for a completely enclosed streamlined pedal driven vehicle which looks more like a torpedo than anything else. There's another guy who holds the record(at a higher speed) with something more bicycle looking, but that record was set while drafting a car. Yet a 3rd who has the record for unassisted, on a standard looking bike.
The Spirit of Australia was the vessel in which the current water speed record was set, making it the fastest boat ever.
