Kaiser Wilhelm II was the German Emperor from 1888-1918. He was related to the leaders of two nations he eventually would engage in war. Wihelm, George V of Great Britain, and Nicholas II of Russia were all cousins. The kaiser thought a great deal of himself and his place in history.
He was the ruler of Germany during World War I (WWI), and gets a bad rap because Germany failed in this war. He built up his military in around 1910 and countries around Germany got nervous and started building up their armies and this created tension, which was one of the many causes of this war. He was born with a deficiency in his arm and his parents hired a tutor that pushed him so hard that some considered it torture to compromise for his bad arm. He did things like put him on a horse and make him ride it whether he could or not. His parents did this because Wilhelm was supposed to be the next ruler of Germany and they didn't want him to have an excuse. The Kaiser liked boats and the army from an early age, that is why he built up his army so much. In WWI, he failed and people remember him as a bad ruler, even though he had no chance, really.

This popular king was forced to resign in 1918 at the end of the First World War. After his resignation, he never entered the royal residence town of Stuttgart again, settling intead in Tübingen. His wish was to have a simple grave in the old cemetery in Ludwigsburg.
