At the beginning of her reign she was, separately, Queen of England, Queen of Scotland and Queen of Ireland. In 1707 the crowns of England and Scotland were united and she became "Queen of Great Britain" and continued to hold the separate title "Queen of Ireland."

She was succeeded by King George I, born 28th May 1660, who reigned as King of Great Britain and King of Ireland from 1st August 1714 until his death on 11th June 1727.

George I was succeeded by George II, born 10th November 1683, who was also King of Great Britain and King of Ireland, from 11th June 1727 until his death on 25th October 1760.
