Thomas Nast (September 27, 1840 - December 7, 1902) was a famous German-American caricaturist and editorial cartoonist in the 19th century.
He created the modern American images of Santa Claus and "Uncle Sam." His Cartoons in Harper's Weekly helped expose "Boss" Tweed, the head of a political machine that dominated New York City in the mid-1800s.
