To be a candidate for a lobotomy (brian procedure) you must have been a violent criminal who had a diagnosed mental illness or in some cases they were people who were developmentally delayed (downs syndrome, retardation) However there have been some rather famous cases of women that were seen as defiant or sexually promiscuous that were given lobotomies at the request of parents or loved ones.
