Ponyboy was late because he fell asleep with Johnny in the lot, while watching stars and thinking about the country.
Because Darry cares a lot for Pony
Darry is upset with Ponyboy because he had accidently fell asleep with Johnny at the drive in. Ponyboy realized it was late and has to go home while he left Johnny there. Ponyboy had went home to Darry who was yelling at him because he was worried. Darry let it get the best of him so he hit Ponyboy. Ponyboy had never been hit before so he didn't know what to do, but run away with Johnny. After they run away Darry realizes he did wrong.
He is mad because ponyboy came home at 2 am. when he is to be home at 12 am. He expresses hos angry by slapping him. Then ponyboy left and tryed to ran away from home with johnny. He decided not to and went home.
Ponyboy's life was so different because his best friend, Johnny, and his second best friend, Dally, were both dead. And, because, Darry, Sodapop, and Ponyboy realized how important family really was and decided not to fight anymore. The Socs started staying on the North Side of town after the rumble, so they ALMOST completely stopped bothering what Greasers were left.
Every time darry and ponyboy have a fight they want soda to take their side. Soda does not want to take either side because he loves them both equally. They play tug of war because they want back up from him and sense soda is the only other family member left he gets stuck in the middle a lot. For example in the book and in the movie (the outsiders the complete novel) the three of them are sitting down to dinner when darry and pony get into one of their arguments. darry says his thing and pony get mad and asks soda, "Is that not right Soda?" (or something along those lines) thus drawing Soda into their argument and trying to get him to take sides
ponyboy goes in and johny right after him to get him. and johny get burned and dally goes and get himactually, thts not exactly it ^_^There are children having a school picnic at the church, when it starts on fire ): johnny and ponyboy are heroic enough to jump inside and save the little kids, they save them, but johhny and ponyboy themselves, get injured.i hope this helps, need anything else on the book?email me at v_vbaseball.girl26@yahoo.comorgrandersongirl28@yahoo.comorjonasbrothermusic08@yahoo.comloveee

Any visitor to the school has to be authorized by the school office. He returned home to find that a visitor had left a note on his door.
Ponyboy is part of a gang because he feels that the gang is his family. They fill the void his parents deaths left.
In the book, "The Outsiders", Paul and Darry hate each other because Darry is jealous of Paul. Darry's parents died and left the boys to fend for themselves with the oldest brother in charge. This meant that Darry was not able to have the things that Paul had.
A few similarities between the movie and book are that the movie still has the complete Greaser gang (Ponyboy, Johnny, Sodapop, Darry, Dally, Two-Bit, and Steve) and also Johnny and Dally still die in the movie but the movie begins with Johnny and Pony following Dally around town.when johnny kills bob and the rumble Now a few differences are that they dont have the court scene, Darry doesn't slap Pony he pushes him down; Pony isn't sick after Johnny and Dally die; the movie doesn't mention Mickey Mouse, (Soda's horse); Sodapop and Dally aren't blonds like they are in the book, instead they are brunettes; the church that Ponyboy and Johnny run away to isn't on a hill; when the church catches on fire pony and johnny doesn't save the kids in a hall way; randy doesn't visit Ponyboy after the rumble the book is a lot better than the movie because there is no detail left out and in the movie there's a lot . I have like 37 differences 1 is that the movie never mentions sodapops girl friend. They don't do acrobatic stuff off the porch. Ponyboy didn't fall asleep on Johnny's lap while riding the train. In the book Soda gives Ponyboy money (a check) Well in the book he didn't. Johnny never made a joke about Jerry about how fat he was. They mention that Marcia was from the south side instead of west side. At the beggining of the movie they never chased after those kids and picked on them in the book. Also the book was written in ponyboy's perspective and the movie was not the movie was written in everyone's perspective.
Ponyboy is a very intelligent person, and the narrator of the story. His parents were killed in a car accident, which left him and his older brothers orphaned. His oldest brother Darry now cares for them. He is 14 years old and is known as a "greaser".
There is a monument, a flag pole and a visitor centre.
Darry was popular. He was handsome. He could get into a good college. But when His parents died, he was left with his two little Greaser brothers. It could also have something to do with the environment he lives in.
