Cooking was traditionally the woman's chore because the man was out hunting for the food to cook. That has just become habit over the years, even though nowadays both men and women work to put food on the table.

Many men do cook, however. Women do not have to do all the cooking anymore. Most modern couples split the chore and each do some of the work.

This expectation is rooted in traditional gender roles where women were historically seen as responsible for managing the household and caregiving tasks. However, these roles are changing as society evolves to recognize that cooking and other household tasks should be shared responsibilities regardless of gender.

How come women cook and men do not?

This is a very sexist question first off. Both men and women cook, if you are in a situation where you are a woman and the only one cooking it is because you are either not requiring help or asking for it. Do not assume men do not cook because a certain man or group of men do not.
