Why are websites created?

Wiki.Answers.com was created because...Answers.com has gone through an evolution to get where it is today. It was originally a reference service, on a subscription basis, called GuruNet. After a few changes, the company/site went through some fundamental changes in 2005 to be called Answers.com and be free and available to everyone.

It is still partly about reference, but in 2006 Answers.com acquired FAQ Farm, a Q&A site based on the wiki platform. The name was changed to WikiAnswers soon after.

WikiAnswers was created for world-wide knowledge-sharing. Anyone from anywhere can ask, answer or edit questions and share whatever knowledge they have on any subject.

Now, Answers.com is proud to combine reference, community and video in its database of answers and information. It is a Q&A site run by a dedicated community, whose members work in collaboration through the wiki platform.

To me, it's pretty obvious. When someone needs advice, or has a question, people are there ( like the community) to answer questions, and help one another.

It depends. Some people make web pages for fun, hobbies, or business. You can make a web page about anything you want to share with the world.

This website isnt awful, but its also not very good. It helped but not by much. This website was created because someone needed money and was kinda smart . sorry if this isnt the answer you wanted.
