Great White Sharks are endangered because people in China break their fins because they think it is magical.
Yes they are. They are a vulnerable species, which if we fail to conserve and protect, may become severely endangered.

Years of hunting have affected the great white populations badly.

The docile, pelagicwhale shark (Rhinconodon typus) isthreatened (Listed as Vulnerable by the IUCN), not quite endangered. The biggest threat is commercial fishing, by harpoon fishermen.

In 2010, the Gulf of Mexico oil spill polluted the area just south of the Mississippi River Delta, where one-third of whale shark sightings have occurred in the northern part of the gulf.

they are being killed for their meat, oils, jaws, and fins for shark fin soup. not only that but they are accidently getting caught in fish nets by fisherman.

one way to stop this is by signing petitions to help stop this
Sharks become endangered for many reasons. One of those reasons are pollution. Dumped trash into the ocean and the whole ocean suffers from man's mess.

Sharks can also die from being hunted and fished to eat or be sold.

Sharks also die from naturaul reasons! Dolphins can kill sharks like the natural boundarys of the food chains, or of old age!

Is it illegal to kill great white sharks?

It depends on where you are. The Great White Shark is considered vulnerable by the International Union for Conservation. International trade in Great White Sharks requires a permit. As a vulnerable species, it is not illegal to kill unless you are in one of the countries which gives full protection to the Great White Shark. Great White Sharks are fully protected within 370 kilometres (200 nmi) of New Zealand and from fishing by New Zealand-flagged boats. Great White Sharks are protected by the California Endangered Species Act which requires an Incidental Take Permit to harass, harm, pursue, hunt, shoot, wound, kill, trap, capture, or collect any threatened or endangered species. Great White Sharks are also protected by Namibia, Israel, Malta, Australia and South Africa.

What is the great white sharks common name?

It is unclear how much a concurrent increase in fishing for great white sharks has caused the decline of great white shark populations from the 1970s to the present. No accurate population numbers are available, but the great white shark is now considered endangered. Sharks taken during the long interval between birth and sexual maturity never reproduce, preventing population recovery. The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (C.I.T.E.S.) has put the great white shark on its 'Appendix II' list of endangered species.
