Because they're answered by volunteers. You want a right answer, hire a consultant and expect to pay through the nose. You want an answer for free, you take what you get.
There are quite a few volunteers who go through and remove some of the more egregiously wrong answers, but they can't catch every one, and are more likely to spot answers that are clearly, obviously wrong (especially if it's not only wrong, but completely incoherent) than those where the flaw is more subtle.
You can kind of gauge the quality of an answer by a couple of factors:
Answers from people with names (as opposed to just IP addresses) are somewhat more likely to be correct. This is especially true for contributors with high "trust ratings'. However, "even Homer nods," and a high trust rating is not a guarantee, especially since someone who has a high trust rating for answering Pokemon questions correctly is not guaranteed to know anything at all about physics and vice versa. Named contributors will often have a bio page that can give you a little more information about them ... though, again, there's nothing stopping some crackpot from claiming to have a doctorate in something (and no guarantee that an advanced degree means they're NOT a crackpot ... there are plenty of well-credentialled people who are infamous in their field of study for having off-the-wall theories).
An answer where the spelling and grammar are correct, and where the reasoning behind the answer is shown, is somewhat more likely to be correct than one that is misspelled, ungrammatical, or simply a short "yes" or "no." At the very least, showing the reasoning allows you to see whether or not it's ... well ... reasonable.
Yes it is.
Most are but it depends on who answers them. Anyone can answer a question and some are incorrect.
no! you can find, maybe two out of five correct answers.
Because it gives you answers that are correct!
It depends on the person answering but mostly, yes!
most of them are wrong. I only come on here so I can correct people
Only some of the answers on this site are incorrect, but the other portion of the answers are correct. All of the questions I have answered ae correct. I know thast for a fact because I do research on the questions before I answer them. -Eugenie de Silva
This is so stupid because this site does not have any correct answers or doesn't even have any answers!
It's a community site, and relies on the community to ask intelligent questions in a polite manner, and to provide correct and comprehensive answers. Anyone is welcome to edit and improve questions and answers, helping this site to converge towards a greater pool or reliable answers on all manner of subjects. But, at the same time, anyone who dislikes the concept is free to seek answers elsewhere.
Yahoo! Answers is also a good site, other than WikiAnswers. But I recommend WikiAnswers over Yahoo! Answers. WikiAnswers is the best Q&A site and it has the best community. Yahoo! Answers isn't always correct, as well, and you cannot change the answers or spellings on there. On WikiAnswers, you can edit about everything to make the site better. Yahoo! Answers you can't, and it is a poor Q&A site.
because people can also right correct answers. this site is so people can help you when you don't know what to do people are just stupid.
You're using it arent you?
