Mostly because people preferred to buy their cold coffee drinks from Starbucks (which was marketed in supermarkets by Pepsi) or they didn't like the taste (Coca-Cola and coffee? No thanks). It was pulled from North American shelves in 2007, but (strangely) continues to sell extremely well in France.

∙ 15y agoIt's sold well enough for them to keep it in their product mix for ten years, and it's still available--I have some in my home right now. I don't think it's a failure.
