Well, IJ just chambered a revolver in 32 SW short, and they certainly weren't the only company that did. Maybe people bought them for self-defense and maybe for plinking or keeping possums out of the henhouse. Paraphrasing "Cartridges of the World", the 32 SW probably ranks along with the 32 ACP in general popularity because it is adaptable to small, light, cheap pocket handguns. In other words, it's a hideaway gun intended to be used at very close range, not something to take to the OK Coral.
as many as it accepts A typical "defensive" revolver holds 5-6 cartridges, but you can get revolvers that hold as many as 11.
Can't be answered as asked. A revolver is a pistol. Adv/DisAdv in what situation?
you can, but not very often.
yes, but don't shoot the P ammo too often
It made them feel safer because they knew they could protect them selves from any situation.
Between an automatic and a revolver? Generally, the automatic is advantageous - higher round capacity, faster capability for firing, slimmer design, etc. However, in a typical self defence situation, you're not going to be burning through multiple magazines - it's typically a one or two shot deal, in which a revolver would suffice. If you're expecting to have to ward off a home invasion with multiple attackers, you definitely want something other than a revolver. But a typical situation, you can do fine with the revolver. It's all in what you're more experienced and more comfortable with.
38 special is only a revolver caliber. that's like saying a 44 magnum revolver or a 500 special revolver. a revolver is a revolver
No its is a revolver.
The action is the heart of the revolver
Depends on the revolver.
That will depend on WHICH .38 caliber cartridge (thre are several) the length of the barrel (longer barrels= faster bullets) and the catridge itself. A very light target cartridge will be slower than a hot defensive cartridge. For a .38 Special revolver with a 4 inch barrel, velocity averages about 770 fps, but may range from 670-980 FPS.
