they felt that wasnt nobody better then them and didnt nobody deserve the right to live but them so they formed a divergent killing group to murder meaning burning, hanging, linching, etc. any race or religion that was not theres or did not follow the KKK.
The KKK was originally made up of former slaveholders who did not want equality for Blacks. They later expanded their hatred to Jews and Catholics. They killed non whites, and non Protestants, to enforce their reign of terror and control the areas in which they ruled.
Jonathan Black was prominent Civil Rights activist in the late 1870's. He organized African Americans into violent raids on local white farms, where they would kill the whites living there and then assume their identity. A posse was assembled to hunt down Blacks people, but they managed to convince the men they were the original families. They would have gotten away with it if one of Blacks blacks, Jeremaiah Johnson, didn't sell out his friends. The posse then lynched every one of Blacks blacks in the area.
The Ku-Klux-Klan was extremely hostile to the carpetbaggers because of their political and financial activities in favor of the former slaves, which endangered the interests of the whites, whose economic conditions had been badly affected by the aftermath of the war.
Many southern landowners, mainly the smaller, were forced by hard speculations of the carpetbaggers, to mortgage their
properties, farms and houses, and then, due to the lack of money necessary to redeem from, were to be purchased by those "newcomers" at a very bargain price.
The lower class of white people had to deal with the rock bottom wages with which the black contented themselves, backed by the speculators.
Last but not least the whites feared of being politically hurt by the right of vote acquired by the blacks, which, organized by the carpetbaggers, would have been the majority in many areas of several Southern States or, anyway would have represented a powerful minority, with which to match.
This growing situation of unease triggered a reaction among the white, that led to the organization of the radical movement
of Ku-Klux-Klan, that although somewhat justified as a measure of self-defence towards the abuse of power implemented and endorsed by the victors to punish the South, soon overcome the limits of a fair tolerance, becoming
a real terrorism, against not only the carpetbaggers but also against the black people.
