Utah is named after the Ute Native American tribe which is native to the area. The Mormon pioneers originally wanted to name the state "Deseret" (which means honeybee), but government officials decided on "Utah" instead. Utah is said to mean "the top of the mountain" in the Ute language.

How can a phone call from Utah display a Canadian area code?

There are a couple of possible ways that a telephone call from Utah might display a Canadian area code. First, a Canadian cellphone will display its Canadian number, even when it is physically in Utah, and likewise for a VoIP phone. Second, a call from Utah using certain calling cards might display the number of a system in Canada. Third, the caller ID might be mangled or spoofed; unfortunately, it is not difficult to send falsified caller ID data.
