(in the US) Blue is not universally worn as a police unifoprm color. Uniform colors for law enforcement officers vary from department to department as well as jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Many departments choose dark colors out of tradition as well as the fact that they do not show staining as easily/quickly as a lighter color might.
Added: And they offer a certain measure of officer safety during the hours of darkness.
Not necessarily. Most law enforcement officers wear uniforms when working, but detectives, some administrators, and other plainclothes personnel work in street clothes.
Um...because they wear blue uniforms.
Yes they wear military uniforms and are members of the military.
What equipment do Queensland police officers wear?
Military police officers wear military uniforms.Added: Displayed on the military uniforms of their particular branch of service are badges, similar to civilian police badges, and/or they wear armbands or, sometimes, distinctive hats or helmets, and/or white pistol belts, so that they stand out from the usual military uniform. And, unlike other member of the military outside of a war zone, they are always armed with a sidearm
No. Detectives are normally assigned to investigations and a wearing uniform is often not helpful. However, like any police officer, they have ceremonial uniforms, worn on parades and at high-profile formal events.
Sometimes.
A sheriff typically wears a uniform that includes a badge, hat, shirt, pants, boots, and sometimes a tie. The uniform is often designed to be easily recognizable and help distinguish the sheriff from other law enforcement officers.
Much too varied to even try to describe here. All jurisdictions prescribe different forms, types, designs, and colors of the uniforms they issue to corrections officers.
blue ones
not to our knowledge, the police and military service are to completely separate branches of government, ie. national defense and local police I have seen military ribbons worn on local police uniforms. that would be authorized by that police unit commander or head of that governing body.........it would be the exception rather then the rule......................
Some of them do and some not.
