Seminars don't fail - even if you get one idea or are motivated by just being out of the office for the day - then the seminar is a success. Many one day seminars are designed to be motivational rather than informational - they may be rehashing information you may already know - but haven't used for awhile. The very experience of sitting in a room with others who have the same or similar problems can be useful. It is up to the attendee to interact with others either during the class or at break - and ask questions of the instructor. Many times when there is a large group attending a seminar the instructor needs guidance to address the needs of the class. Don't be afraid to speak up with your individual need - if possible the instructor will address it in the seminar or at least be willing to help you after class.
