It's nearly impossible to be objective with a question like this. The biggest reason I can think of is freedom. After all, where did "the old ball and chain" phrase come from? When people marry they are making a commitment to spend the rest of their lives caring for a spouse and possibly children. That is a pretty big responsibility to take on. Alot of people may be in this mindset when they are younger because they generally have a long time yet to live and want to enjoy life without having a weight to hold them back.
There are as many reasons as there are people who fit that category. Of the people that I personally know who are older people, never married, never had a pet, have the following profiles:
There are people who just never meet the right person, and by the time they reach their forties or fifties, they get set in their ways both physically and emotionally. Except for the man stuck in the closet and the former monk, I believe that the others are or were reasonably satisfied with their lives, enjoy their friends, and have hopes and dreams for themselves that don't necessarily involve a partner. Speaking for myself, although I was married and raised my children, I've been single for over thirty years. Only the first ten years after my divorce was I interested in a possible remarriage. By that time, you are not only getting set in your ways but have had a chance to 'look over the field' and prefer not to make any more mistakes.
People never marry because they find there partners cheating on them. Because they decide that they don't want the responsibilities when in committed marriage.
People can have trouble getting married for many reasons. I think the most popular reason is that people are shy and wouldn't know what to do in a marriage.
Well, based on age if you have a boyfriend and your 14 it is illegal to get married. A couple can get married if they know each other for quite a long time and they really love each other.

With a few exceptions, our civilization has abandoned the idea of arranged marriages long ago. Nobody should force anyone to marry someone that he/she doesn't WANT to marry. So, to answer your question: A black person and a white person should not be required to marry. However, if a black person and a white person want to marry, that's entirely the decision of the two of them.
She never really 'dated' anyone since she decided to never marry. Some people thinks that she liked Dionysus.

Many gay people fight for their right to marry. Those whom do not wish to marry, simply are not seeking marriage, as there are straight people who do not wish to marry.
There's no such thing as "destined to spend their life with." Which kind of renders the whole question moot. There are certainly people who never marry for one reason or another, if that helps any.
Some do, but in some states it is illegal.
No. Some people who wish to be a maid of god may choose not to marry. Other people who wish to remain a bachalor(et) may stay single. Some people do terrible in relationships and decide it is over rated to marry.
