Why have I not gotten sick with the cold or flu since I started a Methadone program 4 years ago when I got sick all the time before that?

There could be many reasons. Off the top a guess could be that you aren't getting sick because you are no longer using street drugs or narcotics now that you are on a Methadone program. Besides an indication that your overall health is improved simply by no longer using and abusing, that can mean you are no longer out looking for a fix in a bad environment with exposure to germs that people with lowered immune system function from the strain of the drugs on their bodies, inattention to vaccinations, and avoidance of other preventive health services due to cost or so they won't be "found out", and/or infections or blood vessel damage from shooting up and/or sharing needles has caused. It can mean that you are getting more nutrition and better rest for your body to heal itself. You may be washing your hands and generally paying more attention to hygiene than you did while using.
Otherwise, there could be too many other possibilities to list, one of which is that it is only coincidence, since there are no known anti-viral properties of Methadone itself that would be making this happen.

What mg of methadone is quitting tolerable at?
The highest MG of methadone that I have seen people successfully walk off and stay off methadone is around 15mg's. Most people I talk to will recommend just going all the way down to 1mg and avoid any discomfort. But I have seen a few people walk off between 20-30mg's and have gotten so sick that they had to some back. So I would recommend around 10mg's.

im assuming you have an oppiate addiction of some sort, correct? well there are two out patient options available: (you may also do an in patient rehab) but for most people an out patient program provides you medication and counsleling and it does not disrupt your daily life i.e keeping your job! anyway there ar two treatments available: methadone maintence and suboxone maintence,both which are available esp. in cities near by.i can tell you first hand because i have done methadone and successfully gotten off with the help of my doctor,trust me you can do it too! good luck!
