Because some countries do not have fully developed infrastracture and skill imparting, there are low levels of income and a need to get a better paying job and the renumeration for the skills is low in the less developed country so the workers prefer working in a country where there are labour unions and they get paid better and fairly. As from the producer point of view, the immigrants work for cheaper wages than the local residents.
Like in the case of Walmart and illegal immigrants, since the illegal immigrants are trying to establish themselves in the new country and are struggling to make ends meet, they accept just about any job for very cheap salaries, so Walmart locks them up overnight to cleans the halls and the racks and pays them very less.
