most guys are just shy and don't want to admit they like a girl. it is very complex. i got confused too. i have learned though that it is a guy's way of making you guess so you may end up liking them. it is basically the same thing we girls do.

If its really not working for you then break up, but that's not the best option. you can approach differently if you like. like confront him about it or if you two don't talk or interact much then hang out and socialise more,
