Actually it is insulated, the red coating of varnish is the insulation. Also after a motor is wound, it is soaked in varnish and baked giving it added protection.

How can you distinguish the primary from secondaty side on a transformer?

Whichever winding is connected to the supply is the primary winding; whichever winding is connected to the load is the secondary winding.

Why low voltage winding placed near core?

if H.V winding is placed in inner side, then insulating cost and fault occuring posibility is more.and it required a thick insulator which occupy a large area is not possible in inner side.so

What is the meaning of open end winding induction motor?

Normally the machine is supplied from one side of the stator winding only and the other side is isolated connected in star or delta. Open-end winding means the neutral point of the machine is opened and now the supply is possible from both side of the stator winding of the machine.

Difference between input and output transformer?

The 'input' side of a transformer is called its 'primary' side, whereas the 'output' side is termed its 'secondary' side. The ratio of its secondary to primary voltage is equal to the ratio of the number of turns in the secondary windings to the number of turns in the primary winding. So if, for example, a transformer's secondary winding has twice as many turns as its primary winding, then the secondary winding will produce twice the voltage applied to the primary winding.

In a transformer primary or secondary will inside winding?

A step-down transformer's primary is high voltage and secondary is low voltage, based on voltage configuration or load we select which winding we do fast.In air-cooled Transformers output voltage is high and load current is low. So in air cooled low voltage winding in side and high voltage winding in out side of the coil . So we can reduce high voltage short problems and we can easily provide coil insulation . reduce short problem. It is cooled in oil.In step-down transformers we can do high voltage inside of the coil and low voltage and high current of the coil is outside. Because we can better coled in outer side . and reduced to temp problems.AnswerThe terms 'primary' and 'secondary' do not relate to a transformer's voltages, but to how its windings are connected. The primary winding is connected to the supply and the secondary winding is connected to the load. So, for a step-up transformer, the secondary winding is the higher-voltage winding while, for a step-down transformer, the secondary winding is the lower-voltage winding. Your question, therefore, should ask whether the higher- or the lower-voltage winding is the 'inside' winding (i.e. the winding closest to the core), and the answer is that it is the lower-voltage windings are innermost and the higher-voltage windings that are outermost.

What is high voltage side?

You are probably describing a transformer. The 'high voltage side' of a transformer is the winding with the greatest number of terms. It could be the primary or the secondary winding.

How are insulation and sheetrock related?

Insulation and sheetrock are related only in the sense that they are used in walls. When one side is drywalled insulation batts can be stuffed in the other side and then boarded up.

When installing insulation be sure to?

When installing insulation be sure to install a vapor barrier on the correct side of the insulation for the region in which you are located.

Advantages of Delta connections in Transformers?

1. A three phase transformer with HV side star connected and LV side delta connected results in economical design. 2. However, if star winding is required on the LV side due to load / safety requirements, then it is common to connect the HV side as delta. See next item to know why a delta winding is necessary. 3. Delta winding provides a path for third harmonic current present in the magnetising current due to core saturation. Hence, delta winding acts a thrid harmonic filter. This will help to eliminate non-sinusoidal voltage on transformer load terminals. This is an important feature of transformer design. Hence, in practice, all transformers will invariably have a delta winding.

Does the foil faced side of rigid insulation go against the concrete wall?

Rigid insulation by DOW makes many different types of insulation, most have a foil side which should be glued to the concrete while the colored side with logos on it will face out ready for walls to be framed and sheetrock to be hung.
