To add a point to the already wonderful existing answer, as you most likely already know, sociopaths have that "gift" - to make the rest of the world trust them even when little they say is truth, they have ways of making themselves seem right even when it was them in the wrong, and can be very good charmers. The good points that you find are likely not existant at all. If this was me asking this question then I could say that I dont want to be alone. I fear being alone. No one to around to act like they care about you and hold you when you need to held. That sort of thing. This is why I wwould try to find all the good points about the person that I am with presently. Even if it meant that I am unhappy. If you are unhappy then you have to move on. Believe something better came ahead. You just have to have the guts to let go. I hope this helps you and good luck. Brad.

What do you call someone who is clearly a sociopath but honestly cares about a small group of people?

A good actor. Though you cannot be sure if they are truly a sociopath or not until they have been diagnosed as such. If they honestly care about people then I would look along the narcissistic route. If they are a sociopath, then the caring is most likely an act so that they can get what they want.
