Vomit

Why does a corn snake vomit?

If you're talking about a 'pet' corn snake regurgitating its meal - the main cause is the temperature of the vivarium is too low ! It could also be as a result of incompletely thawed food items or an infection in the digestive tract.

A snake will also regurgitate it's meal if it stressed or feels threatened. If you have a pet, and handle it too much or handle it too soon after a meal it will regurgitate. If it's wild, it will regurgitate it's meal so that it can move faster to get away from it's predator.

How much do corn snakes cost at incredible pets?

Speaking from personal experience - I would rather go to either a SPECIALIST reptile shop or a private reptile breeder !

Places like Incredible Pets are GENERAL pet shops - often their detailed knowledge is limited, and at best far too sketchy to be useful. Additionally, there is no real guarantee of the quality and health of their livestock.

Specialist shops and are more familiar with the intricate details of reptiles, often dealing with only one or two experienced breeders. Private breeders often have many years experience of breeding reptiles (25 years in MY case !)

How long can a corn snake go without a heat source?

It depends what temperature the rest of the room is, where it's being kept. IF you can match it's natural temperature range of 22-28 degrees Celsius in your home - then you don't need any heat source.

If not - then you shouldn't leave it without heat for more than 24 hours.

Can a Corn snake eat a blue belly lizard?

Um yeah it can but if it is wild it may contain parasites so don't catch one in your backyard you can buy similar lizards called anoles at the pet store. It also depends on how big your snakes is. Make sure that the thickest part of your snake is bigger that what you are feeding it or it can cause damage to your corn snake.

People! There is absolutely nothing wrong with feeding mice! They are the perfect feeder so stop trying to find a better one! By the way, "blue belly lizard" could refer to almost any male lizard of the Sceloporus genus (as well as many other genuses), which in my experience always have mites, which will transfer to your snake.

Can a snake eat a cheetah?

yes like an anaconda

You ^ do know that Anacondas are from South America, right? And that cheetahs are from Africa? I wouldn't imagine it very likely, but a large African Rock Python might try it if given an easy opportunity (which wouldn't arise very often).

Can you breed a corn snake with rat snake?

Yes it is possible. It has already been done and Corn Snakes have been successfully crossbred with other North American Rat Snakes as well as Milk Snakes, such as the Sinaloan Milk Snake-resulting in the Sinacorn and also the California King Snake-resulting in the Jungle Corn Snake.

However, cross breeding unless done carefully creates mix-ups with otherwise pure bloodlines.

What weaknesses do serpents have?

The cold makes them lethargic, and they have no legs!

Because meals are few and far between, they tend to eat a lot at once.

They are well-known to be unable to resist a naive female.

They cannot strike a lawyer, due to professional courtesy...

Should i refreeze my ball pythons rats if he doesn't eat it?

No, absolutely not. Just throw them away and try feeding again in a week or two.

Keeping a diary of your snakes feeding schedule would be an ideal way of telling roughly when he is ready to eat again. This cuts down the amount of wasted 'food'. If you thaw, re-freeze and re-thaw food items you run the risk of bacteria buildup in addition to the food item partly decomposing.

What can live together with a corn snake?

Nothing. Snakes are solitary animals that only come together to breed.

Forcing snakes to live together can cause several problems:

1. stress due to one snake trying to be dominate over the other snake. this snake will take most of the food and the hides it likes. the other will be very stressed and as a result have reduced immune system functionality, eat less, and not be very happy.

2. cannibalism. while not common in all species, it does in fact happen with nearly all species. all it takes is for one to mistake the other as food and eat it, and then possibly die due to the size of the meal. is it really worth the risk?

3. disease and parasite transfer between the snakes. if snakes are housed together, any parasites or diseases that one has, the other will also get. if one gets sick, then you've doubled your vet bills.

all this risk for what? it doesn't really save money, tanks and supplies are cheap.

all it saves is a few cubic feet of shelf space.

What is the growth and development of ball pythons?

A typical hatch-ling ROYAL PYTHON (it's designated name from it's Latin name of Python Regius) is roughly 6-7 inches long at birth, and typically the diameter of a UK 10p piece at its thickest point.

Hatch-lings will grow fairly quickly during their first two years - attaining 24 inches in their first year, and around 40 inches by the end of their second year. Many of the hatch-lings I've bred are now well over 60 inches long and a diameter of roughly 4 inches at the thickest part of their bodies ! Royal Pythons reach sexual maturity at around three years old - producing typical clutches of 15-25 eggs.

How do you tell when a snake is dehydrated?

Your snake's skin will be the first sign that it is dehydrated. The skin will become slack against the body. Obviously there are some snakes whose skin will naturally appear slack in certain areas (royals for instance), but this slackness will appear as you see the snake move and in areas you wouldn't expect, like along the spine.

The water bowl obviously wont have been touched, or at least only a little. Your snake will also become listless, not wanting to move and feeling very tired. When it does move, it will be slow.

These can be signs of other ill-health so its best to get them checked by a professional. I would suggest investing in a hydrometer as well just to keep an eye on things, especially if your snake is from a humid locality.
